garmin gps and simrad rd 68

hi looking for some advice, ive got a garmin 128 gps and simrad rd68 with dsc. the radio does not display any co-ords and reports no position is being received. all connection seem ok and i have tested the cable. do i need my mmsi number inputed to activated the above or could it be something more sinister!!!!

Have the same setup working fine.

Yes, you need MMSI before anything works.

You may need to change the settings on the Garmin for the output, it will probably default to "Garmin" you will need to change it so "NMEA"

My dsc radio did not need the mmsi No put in, like you wouldnt show position had to go into set up on gps and change the way it communicatd with the radio its all in the handbook and on the garmin web site !!

Had the same setup, the Garmin had to transmit NMEA at 4300 baud, if I remember rightly.
