I rather object to having to scrap a Garmin 225 differential chart plotter, because Garmin have decided to not support it anymore. And if Garmin refuse to make the charts surely some pirate ones are available. How can you prosecute someone for making kit that you refuse to make. Rayetheon made a box available so seatalk could talk to Nmea, so it must be possible, to convert say an xd card into a G card.
with an interface, some bit sniffer out in the ether must know of a way. There must be a lot of G system owners who would like to continue to use their chartplotters.

I had to scrap an old navcentre plotter (ancient but perfect working order) as I couldn't get the charts - that is to say - they'll sell you charts but not updated ones ie you pay £65.00 a pop for a 2001 chart.

Expect better of Garmin though as they have a reputation for good customer care

Which charts do you want?

There is a pretty good market for them SH; in fact they hold their value rather well.

As most people pretty quickly get the charts for their normal cruising ground it's only normally a problem for a new trip/cruise.

Oh and I think you will find it was Navionics who produced the gCharts for Garmin and stopped supporting them when Garmin discontinued the units.

If you want to head up the East Coast, across to Holland, Denmark, Germany etc then I might be able to do the charts; if you want to head south west and down to Spain there were a whole set on 'for sale' last week.
