Getting to be as rare as hens teeth now. They occasionaly come up on eBay or on boatsandoutboards.co.uk. I would think that the chances of finding a Croatian one would be similar to those of finding a snowball in hell. You do realise that the chart will also not have been updated since 2001 ( at best ) ?
Buy paper charts and a recently printed pilot book instead.
I think I'm going back to the idea of a replacement. I'm bit pi55ed off with Garmin at the moment, so my judgement may be clouded, but it seems that they are mainly interested in the US.
So, any suggestions for a reasonably priced plotter? It must be backwards compatible with the other gear, it seems that new Garmin units only talk in NMEA 0183 v3.
It really peeed me off when Garmin did this. So when it came to a replacement, I bought a Lowrance. It's not the only sale they lost, when I mentioned the reason for avoiding the Garmin range to the chandlers, they all said they'd heard it many times before.
yes, well, if Garmin decide the charts will be discontinued, I guess thats exactly what it means! Discontinued; not, sort of discontinued /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. Cant really expect them to keep on with them indefinitely, can you?Who should pay for that?
To be totally fair to Garmin I understand that it was caused by a problem with the third party who supplied the chart data to Garmin. They could have mitigated the problem by publishing details of how to access the chip and allowed 3rd parties to provide updates, at least they would have continued to make money on the GPS units that way.

IANAL, but I'm pretty sure that under UK law manufacturers have a duty to support their products for 10 years.
I like the Garmin interface, pretty much intuitive (apart from the back-to-front zoom buttons), so what other manufacturers are worth considering?
