Garmin Date bug workaround
Our Garmin 2106 plotter thinks it's 1st Jan 1990. Fyi, since July some Garmin plotters such as the 2xxx and 3xxx series are displaying incorrect dates and therefore incorrect time by 1 hour. A small software bug that has recently surfaced. There is a "workaround" documented on the Garmin web site which involves changing the source of the GPS fix from "Garmin" to "NMEA" in the system setup menu. They will release a software update for effected plotters soon.
The issues does NOT effect the accuracy of position fixes which is working fine, just the date and time which can screw up ETA's. In our case because the plotter thought it was January and day light savings was set to auto the clock was also off by an hour.
