Are you trying to get Homeport on a PC to read a chart using a usb card reader? Is the chart on an SD card? Current Garmin charts are recognised by the Homeport software as image files and need to have the right name and format for the software to pick them up? Or are you talking about something different?

I have an old Garmin Hand held 72c plotter with blue chart technology and I use Garmin Mapsource to transfer charts, tracks, waypoints, routes, etc.
I am not familiar with the card reader technology but I hope that helps.
Incidentally, there are a lot of cracked copies of Blue charts/map source on the internet with full world maps. Only mugs, (like me), actually bought their horribly expensive charts!
