Garmin 72

Can any of you clever chappies please tell me if its possible to adjust the time on my Garmin 72 GPS? I have not used it for 12 months and when I powered it up the month was corrected as it picked up but the time is out by four hours.

Just a guess, but won't it do it automatically if you leave it switched on (in a position with a good signal) for long enough to collect /update its almanac?

No, that's what it should do but for some reason isn't. I wondered if it could be done manually in some way

An artificial way possibly but can you change the time zone offset to give you the reading that you want to see.

Coincidently I just turned my Garmin 72 on yesterday and it was showing 31st July 2004!

I left it for a while and it recalibrated, but I did need to change the offset. Out by 4 hours sounds like an offset issue as well.

The automatic updates only happen when they have been left on for a long time - over the weekend for example. A few hours may not be long enough.

Change the Time Zone back to the UK in the setup menu.

Apologies if I am hijacking the thread but for a basic gps is the 72 a good place to start? I'm thinking of that or the 60

It seems to have a good reputation and has been about unchanged for a few years
