Mine works perfectly all the time (more than can be said for the skipper) and always knows exactly where it is ...
except in the Solent (and especially Newtown) where it often seems unable to get a signal from its satellites.
Anyone else have this trouble, or know what causes it, or what can be done about it?

Newtown - yes it is a favourite. Anchoring in Newtown is also much cheaper than a marina berth elsewhere (especially with an NT card).
I don't think it can just be a case of the antenna being obscured as the trouble can manifest itself even in the Solent, not necessarily close to other boats; just that Newtown seems worse in this respect than anywhere else ... it does seem to depend slightly on which way the boat is pointing so the assorted clutter on the stern rail may have something to do with it, but there must be more to it than that, otherwise the trouble would occur at any location.
I did wonder if the huge TV mast visible at Newtown might be causing interference - is this likely?
