Garmin 128 and M-Tech DSC Interface

Have just bought a Garmin 128 to interface with my M-Tech SX35 DSC.

Garmin works fine giving accurate L&L but it doesn't seem to want to talk to the DSC.

On the DSC
manual LL is off
NMEA checksum is on

Connected DSC NMEA+ to GPS NMEA in and DSC NMEA- to GPS NMEA out

DSC still just reads default (not connected to GPS) L&L (all 8's)

Could it be the GPS is set to the wrong Interface Setup? What should it be?

Any other ideas?

Try connecting DSC NMEA- to the GPS common/ground connection.
And the DSC NMEA+ to GPS NMEA out.

Try this...

The Garmin blue wire (NMEA out) should go to the SX35 NMEA In +ve (think this is a brown wire). The Garmin black wire (NMEA ground) should go to the SX35 NMEA In -ve (think this is a red wire).

Just checked the 128 manual. You want Pin 2 (black) connected to DSC NMEA- and Pin 3 (blue) connected to DSC NMEA+. Think that should do it.
