Royal Northern Y.C. at Gourock did let moorings on a seasonal basis at reasonable cost IIRC.
Don't Rhu also offer moorings as well as pontoon berths?
Just looked at RNYC website, called Special mooring membership

Does it have to be Gare Loch? There are moorings available in Fairlie Bay - if you are interested I would suggest a pm to Clyde_Wanderer as he knows how to get one.

They mention them but no prices.

Rhu marina prices are more than TWENTY times what I pay for my mooring at the moment so I am not holding my breath about the mooring prices...!

No it doesn't have to be Gareloch at all. It looks as though I might be living in or near Helensburgh for a couple of years and I wondered if I should bring the boat up. I can sublet my mooring temporarily (through the club) while I am away for a year or so without losing it.

I note that Fairlie Bay is over an hours drive and 47 miles from Helensburgh. Not a disaster, but is there anywhere nearer?

OK - Fairlie is about an hours drive(slightly over) from Helensburgh but has the advantage of being further down the Clyde giving more options for a weekend cruise.

DRB Marine of Roseneath in the Gareloch have moorings for hire. £500/£600 for six months, a yacht of your size. Good facilities, Slipway , access pontoon, kitchen, showers, dinghy park and secure car parking. Decent people who run the place. You could do much worse. Just a satisfied customer.

£640 Plus VAT = £768 Thank you for the advice. I might go and have a look but I will keep looking as well. Fairlie seems another possibility...

Fairlie Quay website quotes £850 for12m.
RNYC website does quote; £885, including clubhouse and club launch.
Once up here, you will probably also need winter storage at possibly £1K min.

First of all The Royal Northern isn't at Gourock, it's at the north side of the narrows at Rhu. The moorings at Royal Gourock are all privately owned. For both you will need a means of access and whether that is using the club launches or keeping a dinghy somewhere you really need to be a member. Laying a mooring will be about £1k - 1.2k and that gives you a saleable asset or if you join one of the clubs you may pick up an existing one. If you want a contact at Gourock PM me.

Have you checked the price of Rhu Marina moorings which provides a launch and also allows you to load and water at the pontoons?

If you are going to be at the Clyde Submarine Base, def try the sailing club first. Ive been out for a bit but they used to have a few moorings plus some berths inside the pier.

Brilliant place to sail from, I realy enjoyed it.

Oh, perhaps try a pm to Old Glow in the deep??

Back in the seventies our skipper kept his Barbary Ketch at the Timbercraft yard right next to Faslane. Fabulous spot, full of old navy junk & a few derelict metre class types. Great fun watching the navy larks pulling a nuke into the floating dock. Couldn't see it on Google earth a while ago though, guess its all been taken over. Pity, that would have done you a treat.

I too am looking for a mooring for this coming season. Boat was on one of DRB's mooring's for the end of last season and for the current winter and am a very satisfied customer.

However interested in the possibility of basing my boat further down the Clyde or on the West Coast mainland for new cruising grounds.

Anyone have anything/know of anything available suitable for a Folksong available for a summer?

*Crosses fingers*
