Those of you who remember a request for information a couple of weeks ago, about a Gardner 6LW that kept spitting out its coolant. Might like to know tha outcome.
It was a corroded tube stack that was allowing sea water into the coolantand pushing it out of the header tank.
I have just rebuilt theheat exchanger and run the engine for an hour, everything seems ok, temp wont go over 60C now.
Bowmans were very helpful even if they had to go to the archives to find the drawing ! new stack was approx £350 when you add vat and p&p. Good value I think as spares go.
