Our Wayfarer trolley is perhaps 16 years old and is very sound, but showing rust around the wheels on the galvanising. So I have got it in the garden and ground off the worst rust and treated the rest of the area with Fertan rust converter. I've got Hammerite black gloss but think it would look awful, as would red oxide primer without a finishing paint that was grey matt to vaguely match the original galvanising of the 98% of the trolley that I won't be touching.. Any recommendations / knowledge appreciated.

Don't overlook the benefits of a bespoke colour scheme.

Very useful when someone offers to get your trolley for you from the top of the slipway.
I've just painted my grandaughter's trolley Hammerite gold. ~It complements the pink wheels and yellow tyres beautifully, and can be picked out easily at a championship!
To answer the original question, I used Toolstation Rustins silver paint on the road trailer. It very soon fades to match galvanising.
