Just got the boat out ready to fit a new engine and all looks well, anti-foul is sould, she was pretty clean and the Zinc has lost 25-30% in 12 months so all looked good. BUT there is a strange hard black deposite on the active ground plate. This is a lump of bronze bar put in as a ground point for the 240v electrics but they havent been fitted. The radio ground which currently is not conected to anything is still perfect so it would seem somthing electrical is going on. Working to what seems the consensus I have grounded all the systems to this common ground point so DC earth & zinc are connected to it. My guess is that it is leaching copper iroms from the antifoul and it does not seem to have damaged the plate but if anyone knows what it might be I would be greatful and hopefully reassured that it does not signel any major problems.
