Galling of stainless steel components

Z Diffusion supply chromed bronze as standard, rather than stainless steel. They're in Perigny just outside la Rochelle.

Thanks Charles. I was in Port Leucate when the babystay turnbuckle galled as I adjusted it. I was in a berth in the marina and paying heavily for the privelege, with only another night available. So I was pretty much forced to take what the yard had in stock.

It galls the threads, don't know why but it acts like a glue.

No it doesn't

A lot of my dive gear is lubed with silicon grease and all of the dive kit we manufacture is lubed with it on both threads, push fits, and O rings, and we use it extensively on ally, stainless, and plastics. Take a look in any dive shop or on-line dive shop and you will see the almost all the greases sold are silicon based

Whoever told you that has no idea what they are talking about
