I'm off to China for a while next week. And just wondered if there are any sailing gadget deals worth going for out there? Only thing which springs to mind is maybe some nice binoculars or night vision. Need to do a Hong kong visa run at some point as well.

Suspect ebay in UK might be just as easy but you never know if you don't ask....

I just bought a pair of Chinese binoculars. Rubbish. Sent them back. (Fortunately I bought them from a UK company on eBay so no problem with the return.)
What make? A quick Google brings up various bird watching sites with favorable reviews, loava seems well liked, giving European brands a run for their money.

The Chinese seem to be very good at consumer stuff of high volume. So NiMH rechargeable batteries and LEDs get the strip light type with 100s of LED for 12v. Of course you will proably get lots of pirate DVDs and music. good luck olewill

I bought a Lolex watch for £2. It says Rolex, but that's what the man called it, really. Total junk of course, but a talking point.

I shared a taxi with a chap who bought an iPhone, he was surprised it was running Android; I wasn't :)

The cash machine in the fake bazaar gave me a fake note. I found this rather amusing.

Moral of the story: plenty of fakes, so beware.

All round Asia seems much the same, Rolex's for a fiver:)

Could you get on to Gmail and the like OK out there?

RC micro helis-if Banggood from Honkong can sell them to me in the UK for £12 including pstage then over there there are bargains.
On a more serious note good quality anchor windlasses. Most of those sold over here under noted brands are manufactured over there and some are marketed in China-so £300 for a £1000 windlass.
