My hull is a bit dull and needs a good cut & polish someone has recommended using G3 compound followed by Starbrite teflon polish, i know that the polish comes highly recommended but what about the G3?

Superb stuff. Outstanding results for me. It's professional cutting compund, used in the motor trade for bodywork repairs...

I use G3. Haven't had any probs with it and the results are good. Go to a auto refinishing supplies place and buy iy in a 2.5 ltr tub. It works out cheaper that way.

Keep the mop wet to stop the compound being "burnt" in to the surface of the gel coat. Shouldn't need to do it moere than every other year if you keep the boat clean and polished.

Yes would agree with other posts here. topsides pretty dull before- especially blue banding. Used G3 and a budget 240V polisher. You can now see your face in it!! Took me only one day to do a 21 footer. Used 3M marine wax on top- easy to apply and very easy to buff off.

Hope this helps

Excellent stuff - used it at the weekend on the Hull - wonderful results... all done by hand though.. results would be even better if used a polisher...

One of the other guys in the yard borrowed some of it too (a 2.5 ltr tin goes a real long way!!!!) and he was well impressed!

I agree.
Both G3 (Farecla) and the 3M wax (not easily found) are 1st class. The wax lasts fantastically well even in salt water.

Pleased you are impressed with the 3M wax- not used it before, I had a nightmare last year with another type whose name I forget- it was very hard to buff off and ended up attracting dirt in itself!!

I agree with all said here. However G3 is best followed by superfine (made by M3 and sold by most car paint shops). Superfine is a bit smoother than G3 and will take out any moping marks brings up the gellcoat like glass. Then polish with Teflon or similar.

Use a electric mop with G3 and Super fine, polish by hand.

I use the superfine once a year and get the G3 out only on the worst bits.

Best of luck!

superb product, advisable to use only once a year though (hard work) jet cleaning preferably with a "steam cleaner" with a small amount of automotive TFR (traffic film remover) has a similar effect on slightly dull /flat finish hull, finally use a carnuba based wax for lasting results this can be obtained from some one like Auto smart or similar car valet supply specialists not cheap but damned "flipping" good. gently rub on leave to dry and wipe of minimum effort maximum result.(do not use in direct sunlight) resulting smears look unsightly !! surprisingly works well on caravans and cars!!!
