Saw the post on sewage tanks and thought I'd post this for your info.
Holding tanks for recreational crafts became mandatory for all new boats 2000. In 2005 tanks had to be fitted to all boats, even those built prior to 2000.
Sewage from recreational boats can still be pumped out if ore than 12M from the shore, but the preferred way is to pump out at dedicted stations.
There is a reasonable spread of such stations, in fact most marinas have one these days and it's use if free of charge.
The system has had some teething problems though, associated with mechanical breakdown of pumps and tanks being full. Still does the system show promise for the future. Five new stations were put in place in July this year.
A complete list of stations along the Finnish coast can be found at: http://www.pidasaaristosiistina.fi/index.phtml?menu_id=27&lang=2
