Hi,

I'm trying to connect the NMEA output from a Furuno GP 32 GPS to a Navman Repeat 3100 repeater.

As I understand it the Furuno DATA1 Current Loop NMEA output (white) connects to an unused Navman NMEA input on the Navman NavBus. The DATA1 NMEA common return (blue) is the same as the Navman power negative, so is wired in to the Navman 3100 black line on the NavBus (which is connected to the main negative busbar behind the main switch panel). Power positive is separately supplied to the GPS, which comes off a separate switch on the main panel. GPS power negative goes to the main busbar.

Unfortunately this doesn't work. When the Navman Repeat 3100 is switched to "nmea", it goes blank for a couple of seconds, then shows the words "Depth" and "Metres" as though it was connected to a depth guage, then finally produces a couple of dashes where the reading would be. This happens whether the GPS is on or off, with data cables connected or not, etc....

All other instruments are connected via the Navman NavBus and work fine on the repeater.

Help! Any ideas much appreciated.

Thanks - blue and white are what I'm using. White is nmea out and goes to the nmea input on the NavMan - but where does the blue go? Connecting to the power negative (which the NavMan manual says is also the nmea common) on the NavBus doesn't work...
