I'm thinking of buying one. Cactus Marine sell it for £1000 plus vat but Sale Tools (based in India) sell it for about £350! They don't accept debit cards : so one worries about fraud. Any advice?

That's one of the dodgiest looking websites I've seen! You know what they say - if it looks too good to be trur....

Oh, and it's Indonesia, not India.

I've bought a Furuno radar and a SH VHF from them, never had a problem .The website is very slow but apart from that I never noticed anything out of the ordinary.

If you Google "sale tools" sumatera you'll find links to a number of sites suggesting otherwise.

You're not the first to be drawn in to their site and won't be the last. I looked at it for some raymarine instruments recently but did some research which identified it as fake/scam. Unfortunately there a loads of crooks out there eager to steal your money. I've recently received emails from fake amazon and paypal sites requesting confirmation of my passwords or my accounts would be suspended. Be on your guard!

Cactus are pretty rubbish in my experience. Used them 3 times and had massively late orders 3 times. They flatly ignored my emails and I had to involve the credit card company to get a refund from them on one occasion.
No point asking if they actually have the item in stock either - I did that for item no3 in the hope it would be on time and was told that yes they did have it and it would be 5-7 working days. Almost 6 weeks and lots of hassle later it arrived. I'd bought from elsewhere in that time hence the issue with the refund.
3 strikes, they're out, will never use them again.

Thanks for your replies.

Happy to save you from the scam artists! If you're still tempted to pay around £1200 for a 6" black and white radar, consider that for £1590 you can buy a Simrad 8" colour radar/chartplotter with a broadband radome - infinitely better value.

The big giveaway on the Sale Tools site is they don't have ANY adverts for low end kit. No straight forward depth sounder, no entry level VHF, no small outboards .etc...etc...
What kind go viable bona fide business would exclude the major profit making high volume lines? OH...yes!! One that was out to make the maximum profit from a scam!!

Cactus... I purchased a new Standard Horizon VHF this summer, delivered in a few days. No problems. Excellent to deal with and the best price on the web for that product. OK it was only £200 and almost certainly a general stock item for any chandler, never the less.. hassle free.

I have a new 1623 sitting in a box in my garage. I got it for a new boat where the deal subsequently fell through - I'm keeping it though!

It cost me £799 a few years ago, about half the price for the same in France.
