It was this thread...http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?496420-Webasto-Airtop-5500-any-ideas&highlight=

The webasto (5500 airtop) was playing up, taking more cycles to start up etc, then it had a period of running only in eco mode, then it would run ok in any mode but still took a few goes to get going, then one morning it wouldn't.
Time to get it serviced, service done by a local guy (KPT), no problems found with the unit, fired up straight away on his test rig and ready when he said it would be. Must say the price of parts is ridiculous (and I service Ducati's) but his labour was very reasonable, nothing he can do about parts prices.
Fitted it back in and would only run if the rheostat was turned full up, and then for only a short time and would then shut down and also throw up random fault codes.
Used the fuse method after it had locked out and started trying to figure out what was going on.
The only thing left after I checked what I could was the air temp sensor, which was situated in the saloon, I couldn't find any specs to check it against and didn't fancy paying a fair amount on a hunch, so ordered the internal sensor which was only £16 ish.
Swapped the plugs, and off it went, happy as can be, starts first time every time and runs as it should.
Moral of the story, as with many things, it isn't always one problem that stops things working!
