Furling Genoa

I am thinking of investing into a LOW COST furling system, so that I can reduce sail easier and balance the boat better; this will also reduce weatherhelm. My boat is a 30 ft long keel GRP Roberts. Any suggestions please?

I bought the plastimo 608s for my Centaur about 2 years ago. So far no problems. It was the cheapest (least expensive) around. The big plus for me (being somewhat limited technically) was that it is fitted over your existing forestay in situ - no need to lower the mast. I bought the complete package including new sail from Seateach for £869.

My brother has a Nemo, also known as Wonderfurl. He fitted it three years ago and is very happy with it. It is very cleverly built and also very solid. You also do not need to change your forestay or existing bottlescrew. It is no comparison to the cheap Plastimo and much more like the expensive brands, but for a good price.
In the cataloge I have here it would be between £450 to £560 ex. Vat depending on forestay diameter.

Check out nemo's website for details on wonderfurl.

the prices I gave are from a German distributor. If you don't find a distributor nearby, these guys ship anywhere and are very good, have done a lot of business with them. They have a website but no internet shop:

I'm sure they speak English and ship anywhere you like. I had stuff sent to Sweden at no extra charge and handled vert well.
