I just bought ordinary braid on braid for my furler. PO had fitted 10mm line, which I thought was a bit OTT. I bought 8mm line (even the cheap stuff had a breaking strain of nearly two tonnes). Somehow, I don't think the line is the weakest link.

Hi. The problem I have is that I purchased a nice looking line only to go very stiff due to PV and salt. It is just six months old I guess and really is a beast. One crew offered to buy it from me just so he could cut it into pieces.

Try washing it in the washing machine before cutting it up. 8mm braid on braid is the correct line. Look for a known brand such as Marlow, Liros or English Braid. Don't get any larger as there won't be enough room on the drum.

A bit of fabric conditioner should help it recover it's pliability.
