Furlex 200S - to grease or not to grease

I have received conflicting advice from very experienced rigging companies as to whether to grease or not my Furlex. I know Furlex advises this using their very expensive grease but I cannot ignore the advice of riggers with years of experience. Any thoughts?

I use ptfe drylube spray on my furling gear. My view is that grease can trap bits of dirt and grit and can dry out. Once in it can be difficult to clean out whereas with ptfe you can just flush with fresh water and reapply as and when.

Greasing really changes how it rotates. Once done it worked so much better.

Why not just follow the Furlex instructions? They possibly know a bit about their products.

Yes, but is'nt that just to sell their grease at a ludicrous price? Just like Volvo Penta?

You'll find that a little tube of their grease will last a very long time. But you don't have to use their grease; buy some cheaper grease if you want. But the thing needs greasing!

Grease it! It makes so much difference to its smooth running.

Did ours on our Kiwi boat in November. Used a good waterproof white grease.

Made a remarkable improvement.
