I'm very lucky as I came into some cash at the right time, but if I hadn't... I would feel very uncomfortable borrowing to pay for the boat. I'd be just as happy with a little trailer sailer, and if I couldn't afford that with a Wayfarer, and if I couldn't afford that, as crew on someone else's boat. But I really wouldn;t want to borrow to pay for a boat. It's fine some people saying if it all went tits-up you'd sell the house and keep the boat, but in reality.... and if you've got family... No sorry, I apply Mr Micawber principles, boring though it be.

You could charge yourself commission too.. Are there any penalty clauses in your arrangement and does it cause any personality disorders?
