Three questions re Fulmar rig
1. Does anyone know the correct angle between the spreaders and the mast?
Mine aren’t level and I am not sure which to adjust. One is a few degrees above the horizontal and the other is level.
2. What’s the correct rig tension and will getting it just right improve pointing ability.
3. What do other fin keel fulmar owners manage to tack through . Flatish water & F4.
Don’t think mines pointing as high as it should. Genoa & Mainsail in good condition.
Might be me. Fairly new to fractional rigs. Probably frightened of pulling on the backstay adjuster.
They do break the mast don’t they!
Thanks in anticipation.

Could I suggest that contact the webmaster, for details for joining the westerly newsgroup, webmaster(at)westerly-owners.co.uk (Change the (at) for @ sign)

Alternatively, you can go to the westerly website and join there - http://www.westerly-owners.co.uk/index.html - It costs nothing to join.

You will get more answers on the WOA site/group, where most of the westerly owners reside.

As I said, join the discussion group and post on there and await a flood of answers.

Hi

I own a Fulmar, the first one, wich came with a thinner than usual mast.
I'm setting the rig to 30% of the breaking strength of the wire (7mm).
Don't be afraid of using the backstay tensioner.if it's not hydraulic and you use it with care the mast won't break.
There is more to fractional rig tuning than meets the eye and it helps to get a good book on the subject.
