Mr & Mrs F Circle are off to Portugal in about 2 hours. We are meeting another forumite, Richard_M44 to sail back to the UK from Lagos marina in his Moody 44.
Richard has just sailed the boat from Malta and arrived in Lagos last night. Great effort indeed, as the auto pilot failed, but now replaced.

Sunday is not looking good, but looks to clear up by Tuesday.

We look forward to perhaps seeing a few of you on August bank Holiday weekend or Row for a Reason in September.

Cheers

Jim & Lynn

As I am jealous I would like to tell you that statistically you are in for head winds all the way up that coast. I am a hour north of lisbon from 27th for a week i'll take the bins with me!!!

Lagos is a gorgeous place! go there every year for two weeks, my parents also have a place there. also a lovely marina!

I got a message on Saturday at 19.16.

"just off cape finisterre. 25 knots on the nose. will be heading for ireland tomorrow midday"

Oh and aparently the food was superb....

Lynn is the chef :D:D

great stuff... best of luck to them, would be interested in progress if anyone hears anything. ! but at a guess they will be out of phone range for a few days

There can't be many places with that depth within range of a mobile phone cell.

My thinking also but just had a second text

"As I type this we are in the middle of Biscay going very well weather just as forcast will call when we get in busting for a beer"

Now I am impressed if Mr FCs phone works in the middle of Biscay, however there is a second possibility in that he is doing a Donald Crowhurst and is currently circum navicating Wallsea Island.

Time will tell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Received at 16.03

jumped off in the scilly isles, will go from here to penzance. Gales in the Irish sea!

it may be that he is sending messages when not near a signal and they are getting mixed up a bit

I also think they are due back at work soon

Does he mean 'jumped off' as in jumped ship? or 'had a look round'

At a guess Mr and Mrs FC are getting the ferry to penzance then the train back to the east coast as their holiday has run out ! while richard waits for a weather window to go north to the west coast of uk.

Correct..... Mr. & Mrs. FC jumped ship yesterday and got on the afternoon ferry to Penzance in order to make work on Monday, (arriving Holyhead on Saturday would leave them with quite a task to get back to the depths of Essex).

Andy and I spent a bumpy night on a mooring in St. Marys, (Hugh Town), and will depart for Holyhead this evening.... hoping to arrive Saturday am.

Bit of a dissappointing non-sailing trip with winds on the nose, or directly up the chuff. Ironically, the forecast is for a beam/broad reach up the W. Coast, with 20 knot winds.

Thanks to Jim & Lynn for their help, company, and cooking!!!

Richard

Biscay - departed Camarinas 1100 Sunday, arrived St. Marys 1330 Wednesday. Fairly benign, wind mostly on the nose, or up the chuff, motor running all the way.

Left St. Marys 1600 Thursday, F6 SW'ly, speed 8 knots or so for 24 hours. Missed out Holyhead, arrived Glasson Dock 1300 Saturday.
