I have to replace my ageing rusty 40 gal deisel fuel tank over winter.
Any ideas on best material Plastic or Stainless, cant decide which. Is there any advantages / disadvantages with either or is it down to cost ?

consider aluminium for a tank as well, but what ever its made of make sure its heavily baffled, otherwise in rough weather with half tank or less theres a good chance of your engine stopping owing to aerated fuel..(been there, done that)......keith

plastic..

i have plastic tanks from vetus which do the biz and have the advantage of being translucent so i can see the level.
not cheap but come in a variety of shapes & sizes and incorporate baffles. they come with all the required hose attachments.

If I ever had to replace my massive steel tanks, I would go for plastic, probably vetus ones and link them all together in a frame work, it would be the only way I would get them in anyway!
