Hi all, I have removed my painted steel fuel tank and looking at installing a Tek Tank in its place (137x91x36),
The original tank was sitting across the stringers pictured with no other support, the stringers are 82 cm apart and total length of the tank is 137cm so it overhangs the stringers, by 27 cm each side.
The new tank is 400litres and weighs 55kg empty, in order to support the ply base I was thinking of using 18mm ply to make some additional frames and bonding them to the hull to sit level with the tops of stringers as indicated by the yellow and orange lines , they would then be bedded in thickened epoxy and glassed over to make water tight, The stringers would still be taking the weight of the tank, but the additional frames would be there to stop the plywood base sagging,
I thought this would be better than screwing or bolting into sides of stringers
Any advice would be welcome!
