Hi,

On Monday 25th April, the motorboat I bought in December will be launched and taken back to Ipswich.

Not knowing the area, I need to plan for a fuel stop. I have about 600 litres on board already so just over 1/2 full.

What options do I have "down there"? I'll be looking to take on about 800-1000 litres.

The local MDL is 84ppl with the 60/40 split.

Thanks,
Matt

You've got the mid river fuel barge on the Dart which, according to their site, is open daily from 8am-6pm. No idea of the ppl tho'. Or opt to wait til you reach Brixham or Torquay, both MDL so will be a better option for you price wise. Loads of MDLs en route so fuel won't be a problem.

Do you know your range for fuel ? , and are you confident with a new to you boat . If conditions permit a straight run through to Yarmouth would be quicker/shorter distance but as others have said there is fuel at Weymouth/Poole if you would rather hop between ports . Enjoy the trip .

Think that's the wrong way? Although the dart one should be ok.

Was wondering if there was anything else further round like Weymouth or Bournemouth?

You didn't say where you are starting from.
If coming from Falmouth direction it is a good emergency stop if you can't make dartmouth before it closes

As said above, Salcombe and Dartmouth are usually (always?) expensive

There is Diesel at Brixham, if you are MDL member you get it at a discounted rate.

There is Diesel and Petrol at Torquay, but this is not part of MDL.

Brixham fuel barge was damaged in the last storm and is now out of action until gurther notice. Fuel is available in Torquay but is not part of MDL. Not sure of price though. Friend put fuel in at Dartmouth at £1.08 a litre. Hope this is of use for your trip.

Hi,

Yes spoken to the barge today and is out of action. A pile also broke on the boat lift as well they said!

Down in Torquay, according to the MDL staff its the boat lift that was damaged in the torm, but as this is right next to the fuel, the fuel pontoon is out of action whilst repairs are being made. They seemed to think it would be fixed sooner rather than later...
