Hoping to fit a new plastic fuel tank. I would like to fit a fuel shut-off valve between tank and water separator/filter. Would an in-line valve be ok?. If so any sources to get hold of one? or other recommendations. My old s/s tank had a valve fitted to the base. The plastic tanks feed from the top! This is for an inboard engine.

Thanks

An in-line valve would be fine. They seem to be popular/ in supply up North for some reason.
Try suppliers/chandlers in Whitby/Scarbr'o, and perhaps Hartlepool.
A friend of mine contrived to make/cobble one from an old washing-up liquid bottle and a plastic tap off a box of wine, however, I would not recommed this as I cannot remember which vintage the wine was.

I used a quarter turn balve valve from RS, www.rswww.com, I think screwfix also sell them now.
There should be a tap outside the engine compartment so you can turn the fuel off in the event of a fire. Close to the tank is good. It should stop the flow of fuel if any line gets damaged, so before the fuel line drops below the top of the tank is a minimum imho.
