Last weekend I changed my fuel filter and my fuel lift pump was unable to prime the system despite changing the position of the crank several times. i eventually took it off to find one of the valves seemingly broken. It it the one that is a small laminate disc pushed with a brass spring underneath an aluminum disc that sits in a recess into the base of the pump.
The aluminum disc was not in the recess properly and the brass spring had nearly disintegrated.
I replaced the disc and put in a spare spring from a pen and it worked however I now find that although I can get a repair kit (replacement diaphragm), I can't get the brass spring or the aluminum disc. I can get a whole new pump but it is not exactly the same.
Has anyone else replaced the pump with the new version (no serviceable parts) or has any advice as to replacing the spring
