Thanks to whoever recommended fitting a priming bulb to bleed fuel filters after changing. Fantastic tip, the only thing I can add is that the bulbs don't work with air in them so I had to squeeze the bulb with bleed screw open, close screw, release bulb and repeat until fuel was in the bulb then the bleed screws could be left open and air purged without any twiddling of the useless fuel lift pump on my MD2020.
