fuel prices

Petrol seems to be coming down in price at the forecourt. But marine fuel prices are static . Brighton marina diesel is 33p litre less 10% for berthholders. Where is the cheapest, may be we can offer a fuel price watch on a regular basis . I filled up in Littlehampton marina 38p litre. I think we need ASDA to open few marina fuel pontoons!

Unleaded petrol 69.9p / litre in Dorset today. Noticed that diesel 35p a litre at Salterns marina. I gather fuel place by Poole bridge is 27p a litre with discount for account holders. I noticed diesel was 21p a litre in Weymouth a while back. All academic to me, boat has a damn petrol engine.

wish I could get petrol at 69.9p/ltr

Petrol at Conwy was 90p/ltr last time I filled her (4 weeks ago). Sorry I haven't got clue about diesel prices there.

Re: separate forum?

Over on the General Discussion forum there was a suggestion that we should run a fuel price watch forum next season and we were receptive to that. Would need to lay down some rules for reporting but it should work well.

Should this start, say, next March, or are there enough of you fuelling over the winter to make it useful now?

Todays price for a bulk delivery of 1000 ltrs of gas oil (red diesel) was 20.1pence per litre and that was on to island on west coast of Scotland where road tanker has a 10 min ferry trip, which is put on to price of the fuel, cheaper fuel if on the main land . The ferry charge costs one pence per litre on to fuel price . Not sure what marina charges are for fuel but will check it out.

Re: separate forum?

Kim,
Sooner the better I would have thought. Most will be topping up for the winter, and many of us use the boat year round. I must admit to normally buying marine diesel in bulk for my Dutch Barge and pinching that for my cruiser. Last fill up was 25.16ppl from Shell direct a month ago. Dont know what the prices are on the river at the moment though.
Regards,
Eddie

Re: separate forum?

I'm game, as the naked woman said to the poacher.

300drachmas/litre in Levkadas. What's that in real money. And is it real diesel?

Re: fuel prices -LPG

The answer is to convert to LPG - I did and the result is excellent - Run at £15 per hour vice nearly £50. The cost of fitting etc is covered in about 2 seasons. Selling my Searay 220 now to look for something bigger but if Petrol, I shall adapt to run on LPG as well
