I am planning a trip from Cherbourg to St Peter Port later in July. I have read all the posts about filling up at St Sampsons and I would like some advice.

I plan to leave Cherbourg 2 hours after HW Dover and travel at 18 kts. This should get me to St Sampsons at about half tide.

Who do I call to arrange the tanker with? Phone numbers would be great.

How punctual are the tankers or could I have to wait around?

How much notice is usually required?

Do they take card payments?

Many thanks

David

Have a look down the fuel forum, you may well find numbers.

But you ring Shell or maybe another, cant remember the other. The tanker is usually there on the dock.

Would think a quick google or whatever, for Shell Guernsey, would soon sort out the phone number.

Hi a word of warning,
about 6yrs ago i met a chap in Peter Port who had run aground trying to get into St Sampson, it cost him the thick end of 4K to fix leg's& new props, just to save a few pence on fuel,it was a wake up call for me & anyway it is so easy @ boatworks in the fairway or in Q E 2,(imho) regards mm1.

Earlier this month the tanker at St Sampsons was 34.4p/litre, compared to Boatworks at 56p/litre. Beaucette was usually a few p/litre cheaper than Boatworks - but worth checking.

Hello David
You need to be at least half tide to open the marina gate at St Sampsons., so you will be ok for depth, but no lower than half tide
