Is it best to replace at the start of my boat's 6 months winter ashore or at the end (I'm thinking if at the start then diesel bugs can party in it over the winter - but I could be thinking nonsense as usual)?

I replace both fuel and oil filters just before being taken out for winter storage ashore. Doing the oil afloat after running the engine means it's much easier getting the oil out. I also use MR16 whenever I fill the fuel tank. Not had a problem for years.
