Fuel 60/40 split calculation. Help for a Thicko please.(Again)

If my local marina is quoting £1.08 per litre of fuel.
How much will we actually pay assuming of course I am going the claim the standard agreed ratio on my leisure use only boat ?.
They have told me it will cost approx 90p per litre ,however you can buy from a local garage for only 60p per litre.

60% will be at £1.08, and 40% will be at the low duty rate, circa 70p a litre. So if you buy 100 litres, you will pay about £90 ish

"You can buy from a local garage for 60p" - don't think you can legally do this. If the garage knew that the diesel was for a boat they'd have to charge at the higher rates of tax.

that seems expensive. MDL were charging a bit over 70p last week, with the split.

That's where our system this side of the pond is much easier.

we pay marina / tanker rate and self declare @ 32c per L the following year and cough up.

Requires you to have had the willpower not to drink the tax owed. This porblem is why PAYE was set up Mind you, I would like fuel sellers to show the base and 60/40 prices given that they are the two most likely options.

Yes, we need some clarity on this. Lymington (Berthon) were advertising at around 55p (it varied slightly, depending on quantity) last weekend, but I guess that is the 100% low rate price.
