Sorry, can't help on that one - don't know any other boats taking part, except Krystal off this forum.

I got my crew slot by posting a card on a yacht club notice board. Took a few months but I got a phone call eventually.

At least your boat's already up the Thames - we get to go down twice - once for the race and again for the return trip to Gillinham.

Off to check the rules on how far before and after the barrier engines can be used for........

Thames Barrier exclusion zone

500m, apparently, which seems like rather a lot to me - if my powers of length approximation are in order (which my girlfriend tells me aren't), I think that coincides with the yellow boards informing you to contact Woolwich Radio, or London VTS, or whatever they call themselves these days. The western one is at the Dome, the other is at the approach to Galleon's Reach.

Will double check this on the chart tomorrow morning and post accordingly. Looks like we're in for a winner on the Limehouse - Erith leg, though - forecasted wind dropping steadily, but still bang on the nose...

Re: Thames Barrier exclusion zone

Glad to see you got your insurance sorted.

Was kinda hoping the zone for using engines extended from Limehouse to Erith if the wind's on the nose /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Off in a couple of hours to help fit (bet that's not the right boaty term) the new sails and then we're going to make a start heading round with an overnight stop along the way.

I'll catch up with you somewhere over the weekend.

Re: Overnight Stop

Hah! Wait until you see my tasteful Burberry sail covers!!

Presumably we'll see you at Limehouse around lunchtime, then, what with the flood and all. My crew and I will probably be in the Grapes by then - come and have a landfall pint!
