Yes indeed, we are looking forward to it. Last I heard there were 21 boats in the line-up. Nothing in any forecasts about severe winds, though - just an F3 on the nose all the way to Erith, joy of joys...
500m, apparently, which seems like rather a lot to me - if my powers of length approximation are in order (which my girlfriend tells me aren't), I think that coincides with the yellow boards informing you to contact Woolwich Radio, or London VTS, or whatever they call themselves these days. The western one is at the Dome, the other is at the approach to Galleon's Reach.
Will double check this on the chart tomorrow morning and post accordingly. Looks like we're in for a winner on the Limehouse - Erith leg, though - forecasted wind dropping steadily, but still bang on the nose...
Was kinda hoping the zone for using engines extended from Limehouse to Erith if the wind's on the nose /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Off in a couple of hours to help fit (bet that's not the right boaty term) the new sails and then we're going to make a start heading round with an overnight stop along the way.
I'll catch up with you somewhere over the weekend.
Hah! Wait until you see my tasteful Burberry sail covers!!
Presumably we'll see you at Limehouse around lunchtime, then, what with the flood and all. My crew and I will probably be in the Grapes by then - come and have a landfall pint!
