Now I am the proud posessor of my Day Skipper Theory I "know it all" so of I trailed down to my local harbour to check out how the professionals coped with Col. Regs as they interpret them. More than 75% of the local fleet (all tied up) were still fishing and one was "pair trawling"! Now this does make you stop and think what do they use for lights at night?

A resident of Fraserburgh. Hope they dont set fire to my Folkboat.

Ahh but if I sail into French waters, all hell breaks loose if I dont have a black ball and triangle on board and use them correctly! I think fishermen on the sea are bit like farmers on the road "a law unto themselves".

Another dig at the fishing community, last weekend my employer (Chair person of the local RNLI) was out rattling the tin and had the door shut in her face by the wife of someone who has required the RNLI on 2 occasions!! Maybe the "wifey" didnt want him back!

Where are you Jimi, before I came North 15yrs. ago I used to live on Hayling Island, you know that little bit that sticks out of the Nothney Channel, and causes all the problems on the winner bank, lots of mud and no entry unless you know the way in?

Re: Before long

Why so shy in your profile Ohdrat? Why hide your light under a bushel?
Seriously though, the forum would be so much more enjoyable if more users would disclose a bit about themselves.

Re: Before long

not so much shy as not having a boat... hence no id / make .... I am looking ... when (tho' sometimes it feels more like IF) I have a boat .. then I'll have something to stick in the profile!
