Hi All

Wondering if anyone has a manual or documentation about the JW Marine fridge mate gizmo ?

Its blinking at me instead of the steady solid light that it used to show and since JW seem to have gone out of business I was hoping someone might have some insights into what that might mean .

Cheers in Advance

The Fridge Mate website said "As well as low battery monitoring in the manual Boost Mode, Fridge Mate protects against an overload current (greater than 15 Amps) or a short circuit fault between the Fridge Mate and the fridge, automatically turning OFF the power and continuously flashing the indicator light. Fridge Mate remains OFF until the fault is removed."

Yes, you have the wrong Fridge Mate.

I have a fridge on my boat. It is based on the danfoss 12VDC compressor as most 12VDC fridges are.

BTW you may be thinking of frigoboat which is the supplier of the condenser and evaporator as well as the danfoss compressor.

The error codes ar the same as the fridgemate as it uses the same danfoss compressor. So where is your issue.

I don't have an issue, but the OP had a question about "the JW Marine fridge mate gizmo". This was a voltage sensitive device made by JW Marine, a British company based in Plymouth. The "Fridge Mate" was designed to switch a 12v fridge on whenever a charging voltage was detected, and switch it off when no charge was detected, in order to avoid flattening a boat battery. It was a little black box with 3 connections on it. It has nothing to do with SupaKool fridges, or Danfoss compressors. I happen to have heard of it, so can offer some help to the OP. You and coopec obviously haven't heard of it, so can't help.

I do now remember reading about that device some time ago but as the danfoss compressor has already a low voltage cutout I see little use for such a device. If it will only allow the fridge to operate when there is a charging current not much use to any cruising sailor in the tropics and sub tropics like Clive and myself.

Looked like a solution without a problem.

So you don't use solar panels?

I do have solar panels and the amount we get keep my batteries near fully charged even in summer with the fridge running 24/7.

Its only if we have a week or more of overcast weather I might consider running the engine or switching on the mains battery charger.

I used to have a wind generator but took it down as I rarely needed its charge. Clive being at a similar latitude as me would possible have the same results.

Thanks Pvb it is exactly as the image you have posted , will look into the possibility of a short ...

Would you mind letting me know what URL you used to get that information ?

Cheers

Hi All,

Was a manual found by anyone in this thread?

My jwmarine fridgemate system is having some issues and as it was a system setup by the previous owner I am having difficu

I am going to resurrect this thread

Hi coopec,

Thanks for the response but that is not the same item. While I was unable to view the YouTube link I think it is related to the evacool system anyway.

I'm looking for the jwmarine manual. It is the one that's in pvb@'s photo

Hi All,

I managed to find someone with a physical copy.

Pictures of the manual are too large to attach (might be because I'm a new member) PM me if you need them.
