My boat came with a fridge that had a drain hole in one corner, with a small diameter hose connected to it that ended in the bilge. It was a great way to add funky smells and yucky water complete with fridge crumbs and whatnot into an otherwise clean and dry bilge.

As I was fiddling around with the fridge today anyways, I solved this issue:

I zip-tied a loop in the hose (to create a water lock so there's no air exchange with the inside of the fridge) and then cut it off and pulled the yucky end out of the bilge. The remaining hose goes into a small bucket with a hose-sized hole drilled in the lid. Contains the water and smell and is easily removed for emptying, although as the rate at which it dribbled into the bilge was just enough to be annoying it probably lasts quite some time.

Only downside, someone had to eat a bucket full of meringue. Oh, and I have to clean the yuck out of the bilge one last time.

Originally, I had a two litre coke bottle laid on its side with a hole in the lid for the tube. Put a bit of bleach into the bottle to stop the smell. When we had the fridge refurbished the coke bottle would no longer fit into space as the pipework had been moved. So I replaced the bottle with a paint pail, still with the bleach. It's emptied more frequently then the coke bottle so it doesn't spill when we heal. SWMBO endorses this system as it stops her having to clean the condensation out of the fridge on a regular basis.

I had a similar issue with my fridge and aircon condensation trays.

I piped all of them into the gray water/collection tank under my shower tray which had a pump out float switch. Problem solved.
