Can anyone recommend a supplier of rigid PU foam panels, of the type used for building insulation (Kingspan is one brand name, I think)? I wish to add to the insulation around my fridge, but building supply companies all seem to have minimum orders that are way more than I need.

Apologies if this has been discussed recently. The search facility does not seem to be working at the moment.

Regards,

Robin

I think builder's merchants are probably your best bet, but they (probably) only stock a few thicknesses - maybe 30mm for cavity walls, 70mm for under-floor, and 100mm for loft conversions, etc. depending on what's required by building regs currently. I'd be surprised if there was a problem buying single sheets if they stock it. (I think Kingspan is 450mm x 900mm for the cavity wall stuff, or 1200mm x 2400mm for the thick stuff.) Minimum order will be 1 'pack' if they don't stock it, and far more than you'd need.

Short of scavenging / scrounging on building sites, the other place to try is Seconds , but I've never dealt with them.

It comes up on ebay quite often, but seems to be snapped up at a premium price by shed-dwellers.

Another trade name is 'Celotex' (I believe the products are equivalent).

If I had my sections of Kingspan/Cellotex foam vacuum packed wouldnt I have the same product for far less cost?!!

Ask your local builders merchant for 1 sheet - Travis Perkins will do 1 sheet.
Or alternatively search in your local builders skip or ask him to sell you a sheet - thats what I have done.
