Had an invite to watch the fireworks at Cowes (RLYC) for the crew last week, but nowhere to moor so thought we'd go and see. Squally beat over in up to 40 knots. As we went past Cowes Yacht Haven we spotted a space alongside the outer pontoon and nipped in quick. Fully expecting to get moved on, we were handed a sign saying 'No Mooring Alongside' by an official which we gladly attached to the outside rail. We were in!
Sauntered out to the RLYC in our glad rags and only challenged on our return, when the Scandia security insisted on escorting us to the boat. Brilliant display from the best vantage point and never appreciated just how many spectator boats there were before (we're usually amongst them).
Couldn't resist a chuckle at our good fortune as I turned in for the night, almost left with the sign still attached in the morning/forums/images/icons/smile.gif
