Hi All

I was having problems with my freshwater pump and it turns out the filter/pipe in the freshwater tank was clogged.. I drained the tank and blew out the blockage with mains pressure but when I tried to get to the area where the pipe into the tank is I am blocked by a reinforcement plate that just leave 4 small tiny traingles of space at each corner edge... How can I get to the area to remove the limescale?

Is there a product that can dessolve limescale on mass for a 200 litre freshwater tank that won't require 5 fills/empties to wash out and that will defo dissolve all limescale?

Do companies have special tools to get to places my wet&dry hoover cannot?

White vinegar! Costs about third the cost of poncy bottled water in supermarkets. Buy ten bottles or so, fill your tanks, leave to soak for a few days then rinse out.

I systematically add a half a mug of white vinegar to my water tanks every time I fill up - it keeps down the limescale build up and makes boat tea drinkable.

yes Vinegar wil dissolve the limescale slowly. Go for it if you can stand vinegar flavoured tea

Its approx 5% acetic acid so 1 litre will dissolve up to 40 or so grams of calcium carbonate scale.

lime scale is good, particularly with galv iron tanks as it seals the zinc.

essential with lead pipes as creates a barrier. hence why lead was forbidden in soft water areas of old.

Add 3 handfulls of ordinary cement to a full 150 gall tank, leave a week.

loose bits will clump and be no further problem.
