Fresh Water system problems ….

My gallery freshwater tap is splurting and vibrating when turn on . My water pump to the system runs for a considerable time before switching off . There is obviously a problem with pressure in the system, I am not sure if this is the accumulator or an air leak . There was for a moment some brown rust looking colour coming out of the fresh water tap .
does anyone know where the pressure switch is activated from. Is it the pressure at input or output of the pump.
also how do I check if the accumulator is functioning correctly

Other than my other post on reply on the other thread..just when you’ve mentioned the spurting. You could be sucking air from the suction side. On some pumps there is a filter bulb on the inlet. If this had water in it over winter..it can crack the housing and draw air.

Is your breather clogged up?

We had a similar problem, if we used quite a bit of water in one go ie flushed a toilet, ran a basin tap and started to fill the sink so the accumulator was quite empty, the pump ran for ages. Turned out the breather was partially blocked, the pump would create a vacuum in the tank and couldn't draw water until enough air could be drawn in..

Normally there is a pressure switch on the pump output side and many pumps have this switch built in, sometimes it’s a separate switch.
What make and model pump do you have? Can you see the cutout pressure on the pump?
The accumulator should have a tyre valve at the top, sometimes under a plastic cover.
To test the accumulator switch off the water pump, open hot and cold taps until no water flows then use a tyre pressure gauge to messure the pressure in the accumulator.
Generally the pressure in the accumulator should be just below the water pump cut out pressure. For example if the cutout pressure is 25psi the accumulator should be around 22psi.
It can happen that the accumulator diaphragm splits, maybe this is the source of the brown rust?
