Hi folks,

The Jabsco pump supplying fresh water to the galley and heads keeps running after the tap has been turned off and I assume this is due to an air or water leak in the system. However I can hear water running through the Jabsco Accumu thingy ,which didn't happen before, therefore could this be the source of the problem. All advice gratefuuly recieved

Many thanks

Its suposed to. When you draw water the pressure drops, the pump then turns on supplying water to the tap. When you shut the tap off the pump keeps running untill it has filled the accumulator and go they system back up to the shut off pressure. You should then be able to draw off a small amout of water before the pump comes back on. How much depends on the size of the accumulator. The small black plastic ones realy just smooth the flow, if you have a 4L metal one you should be able to fill the kettle without the pump comming on.

You don't say for how long the pump continues to run? If it's seconds, it's working OK. If it runs until your tank is empty you have leak/split pipe on pressurised side! The air pressure inside the 'accumu thingy' can be raised/lowered using a bike pump which in turn alters the water pressure, length of time pump runs, smoothness of water flow etc. Don't pump it up to bursting point!!

Check the pressure is 20psi- 1.4bar. Too much and the water-flow will pulsate, and too low and the pump will cycle for too long. If the diaphragm's toast- which may be the problem, there'll be almost NO pressure at the schrader-valce on the accumulator when the pump's off.
