Fresh water pump

I have a small whale 12v fresh water pump serving galley and heads , found it has stopped pumping , the motor still runs but no water from taps , are these user serviceable or just a chuck and replace jobby ? .
Another question , I have no manual pump in the system and I thought it might be a good idea to have one , thing is the 12v pump is very close to tank , will a manual pump suck through the lecky one or should I be looking at separate feed pipe ? Which will be a tad more difficult ! , it's a flexi tank by the way .

I replaced my shurflo electric water pump 2 months ago, and i it was half the price from a caravan place,
It is exactly the same in all respect but was 42 pounds and had caravan on it, instead of marine. I pulled apart the motor to check if it was waterproofed etc and it was exactly like the one with marine on it i pulled out.
The actual new pump was cheaper by 7 pounds than the servicing kit by the way.

Thanks for replies chaps , I will check out the caravan stores for pumps and probably get a manual pump/tap thing at same time ..

Hi Nigel, I had the same problem after draining the water tank at the end of the last season and again this season, pump would run but no water the pump was bolted upright under the sink i removed the outlet pipe and pump held it as low as possible below the tank level turned on the power hey presto it primed and gush water!
Worth a try.

Was looking at those last night on web , what model did you use ? .

Silverdawn , my tank is under starboard bunk and the pump is at the end level with bottom of tank so water should feed through ok but I will check all the same , the pump is a whale GP74 so well out of date now ...

The reason is my existing pump was low pressure (15PSI) and I didn't want to go higher tan that to find all the leaks that I didn't know I had. Mine is mounted on top of one of my two linked tanks. The mounting was VERY straightforward, the pipe connector options allowed me to just use the existing shurflo connectors straight onto supplied connectors from Jabsco. It's much quieter than the Shurflo, and at the price is almost worth carrying one around as a spare, rather than diaphragm kits etc

So does mine, it's only for the galley but it is a lot slower!
