The fresh water circulation pump on my Volvo MD17D packed in during my summer cruise to the Balaerics. I have changed the cooling system to raw water but would like to return to the indirect system for the obvious corosion reasons but also for the hot water that I get from the calorifier.
Does anyone know of a low cost similiar replacement pump that I could use, or where I could get a secondhand one. The shaft and impeller has broken on the old one so it is not just a bearing and seal kit that would sort it out.

Thanks for that link, I have looked at it but that problem seemed to be the mounting plate. My mounting plate is OK, it's the pump itself that has disentegrated, though it was after some 20 or 30 hours of motoring into a nasty sea. (grandchildren arriving in Ibiza and me still 500 miles away with headwinds ).
There had been a small leak from the pump that I had not dealt with previously and I suspect it was my tardiness in not sorting this out that caused the failure. However the suggestion of a 12 volt pump is very interesting. Does anyone know of a suitable pump ?

There was a company called Martec who made freshwater conversion kits for volvo engines which included an electric circulation pump. Not sure if they still exist

Have you seen this advert on Ebay, its for a Jabso magnetic driven hot water circulation pump.

The one thing I would point out is that all electric pumps will run at a steady speed and so may not circulate enough water whe your are at full power and that seemed to be one of the problems with Martec units.

Best of luck in your search, i used "hot water electric pumps" on Ebay
