Can anyone recommend a nice quiet 12v fresh water pump, when I turn a tap on mine sounds like a jack hammer starting up, the one in my motorhome is not noisy like the boat one. Not sure what make it is and I'm not on the boat but will have a look next time I'm down

Jabsco tend to pulse and hence are noisy. The Azi has an Italian pump with an impeller to pump. Is very quiet. There are options.

Also with my pump when I turn a tap on the water pressure lowers as the tap runs then the pump kicks in for a few seconds builds the pressure back up then the pump turns off untill the pressure drops again then the pumps kicks i again etc etc etc, is this normal as the pump in my motorhome is constantly on whilst the tap is open but it's way quieter than my boat pump

I recommend the Marco pumps. Inbuilt pressure and flow regulator with no accumulator. Not silent, but quiet.

No, and not good for the pump.

Do you have an accumulator? If so, is it pressurised? To check it, pump switched off, tap open, use tyre pump to check/pressurise to c 3 bar (operating pressure on label or pump mamual).

Next, adjust pump shut off pressure, usually c 2mm allen bolt in bottom of pump between inlet and outlet hose. Pump switched on, tap open, adjust pressure setting so pump just runs continuously.

I replaced my Jabsco water pump with a Marco this year and it’s a lot quieter, can still be heard but it’s a different kind of sound . I left my accumulator installed and it works fine with it .

Is your accumulator pressurised?

I have a couple of Gianneschi pumps and they are very quiet. Both have accumulators but I believe the current models don't need them. They are not cheap but you can find some very good deals if you shop around. Brilliant quality

Last month I had to replace my old water pump - was a 12 year old Jabasco xyz ... pressure sensor was dead.
I have installed the best thing around Italy: MARCO ... very robust, no plastic, quit, electronic regulation, 12/24 V:

I fitted a Shurflo Trail King 10 on my liveaboard, along with a 5 litre accumulator which reduces cycling. I also run the pressure switch via a relay so it doesn’t have to deal with the motor current.

Lasted 5 years so far, pumped around 100,000 litres of water by my estimation and still working great.

I’ve got the double pump version of that for higher flows. I’ve got 4 heads. (With a single pump in parallel as backup). A good system.

Not sure if I have an accumulator, going to the boat tomorrow so will have a look 👍

Worth taking into consideration the flow rates as well as PSI ratings for pumps. Our main pump is 45 l/min which feels like overkill - that could drain our 800 litre tank in less than 20 minutes (about how long I would spend in the shower if the hot water didn't run out)

Well, better than the other way round, anyhow.
You can always reduce a strong flow, but not increase a poor one... :D

yes, I realise that, but an incredible amount of water does come out of the showers!
Not that much in boats usually. I measured it in my bathroom only yesterday as my sump pump is bust and the new one needed to be sized to suit. I have a rather wet rainfall type shower and it uses 11 litres per minute. My normal heads are 8 litres per minute. Most boat showers will be a bit less, at 5 or 6 especially if they have a flow restrictor or aerator device fitted.
