. . . that I don't listen! Having thought long and hard about all the comments about fresh water flushing and talking to others, I've decided to scrap the idea and put up with the sea water 'pong' by flushing from the sea. Thanks all!:nonchalance:

Change the pipes for white ones.it's worked for me on two boats. They need changing every few years, the pong permeates through them. When the loo has not been flushed for few weeks the microbes in the sea water die because they are not in light, apart from the obvious stuff that passes through and leaves a residue behind these things contribute to the problem

The most sensible response that I saw to your various posts on the subject, was from someone who suggested using the shower attachment from the wash hand basin. Flushing with fresh using this, immediately before leaving the boat for an extended period, would probably achieve the desired effect. This would save any messing about with pipework. Provided that you have a removable shower attachment, of course.

The problem I had Norman, that no-one seemed to understand was that I wanted to simplify the pipe-work with the smell removed as a bonus. The smell comes from the inlet so flushing fresh water through the outlet isn't going to solve the problem.

I swapped all my pipework for modern leesan white hose.
18 months later still no smell… before that they stunk…. even before I had a leesan chemical system fitted and they still stunk..
