I am currently in Chalon Champagne, this morning a Frenchman in an aluminum sailing yacht with a draft of 1.8m left the port bound for the med.
I am very interested in his progress with this sort of draft, if anyone meets up with him or hears about him please post details.

Are you sure it is not a centre board boat and that is the draft with the board down?

Most French alu boats are centreboarders.

Mmm...a Frenchy in France in an ally boat. How many do you want?

Almost certainly an Ovni with a centreboard, when up he'll draw 900mm. I assume your interest is in him using the canal system.
Talk about needles in haystacks...

I confirm that he is using the canal system and he also confirmed fixed draft of 1.8m, it is also very beamy.
I believe it was built in the Morbihan area.

A friend regularly comes to the south from St Jean de Losne, where he usually spend a few weeks in the Etang de Thau, both at anchor and its ports. He has a centre keel and draws 1.85. He is currently returning to the north.
