anyone know where i can get a list of french marinas with apartments/townhouses etc for sale. especially interested in marina's where you can moor your boat near/outside your property. seems like a good way of investing but also has dual use of mooring and dry land accommodation?

Port Grimaud is the best in my opinion (mostly because I live there in the summer with my boat parked outside /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif)

Unfortunately I know barely anything about buying houses and apartments etc /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif so my advice is to talk to some immobiliere (estate agents) there, who practically all speak english /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you need any information regarding the place itself in more detail, feel free to PM me /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

doesn't have to be france but i am looking for somewhere that we can buy, possibly go up in value, but can take my boat and moor for short/long periods.but need to be able to motor from south west of england in sensible time scale!

Agree with Mike. A few of us on the forum have boats there (Empuriabrava) and unlike Grimaud it doesn't completely die in the winter.

add on
I've been told there are 5000 permanent residents so supermarkets, restaurents, cafes mostly open year round
In august 100,000 people show up...we leave well alone then!!

Valid point- PG is dead in the winter, about 5 of 900 houses are open. Not sure if the properties in PG can appreciate much more. Someone has just paid near to 3 million euros for a 4 bed with a 22m mooring. I think prices msut be near to there peak. Would recommend PG, for boat on the doorstep boating, and great cruising ground. Only downside is distance from airport!.

Quite right, it does go dead in the winter, i did forget about that, but we only go in the summer so easy to forget /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Regarding the airport, there is an airport about 10-15mins away called Toulon-Hyéres which is brand new, and Ryanair do a lot of very popular direct flights from Birmingham and Stansted, not sure which others though because I've only had to use those two /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Years ago there used to be a helicopter shuttle/taxi service that rang along this part of the coast. It was £60 from Nice airport to the Golf club in Agay - it must be 10 years since we lived down there but assume some similar service still runs?

I remember driving the coast road in winter and then it becoming a car park ful of German campers from Easter to September.

There is still a Helicopter shuttle from Nice to Monaco for £85 each. Thought it a bit OTT though as was coming off the Easy Cruise at Monaco and felt a bus more appropriate. Mind you the price was very good compared to the hostess bars in Cannes /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

La Roche Bernard, Loire Atlantique, also St Malo, but I,ve no idea of the cost at either place, We've lived over here since 1989 and it seems there are more and more red ensigns on the moorings year on year, but when you go on the internet and look at the cost of south coast marinas you understand why!

It's much cheaper than that - €80 not £85, except for special times like the GP weekend

But the chopper to St Trop/PG is loads more

Wow,

I was there the weekend before GP and that was the price quoted. At 80 Euros it seems great value! All I need now is 'one more toy' /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The weekend b4 GP is the classic GP race weekend, so it's charged at premium rate. When there's nothing special on, it's definitely 80 euros, which is less than a cab if there's only one of you. It was €220 on the friday/saturday before the GP, eek
